Surely the answer is: "We are the human race and we are here to do what we can to make life better for our fellows." Individualism and nationalism and other silo forming ideas run counter to that. You talk about a 'golden age' when we seemed to be moving away from that. Instead of condemning the counter movement you seem to be accepting it as inevitable. It should not be so.
