Please accept my apologies, John. I certainly did not mean to insult you or your knowledge. I misuderstood what you meant by ‘property’.

Of course everyone has the right to the fruits of their labor, subject to their duty to share them with those too young, too old or too sick to labor for themselves.

However, to me, ‘property’ implies much more than that. It includes exclusive access to land. My reference to history was an allusion to the fact that all of the land on this planet has been fought over many times by our ancestors. We, collectively and individually, inherited from the most recent victors of those conflicts. Property acquired thereby is absolutely not a ‘natural right’. It is a right granted by the consent of the present population, enshrined in current legislation which can be changed by a future government, as has happened in the past.
