Not on,y is that a bold and ugly generalisation, Henryk, but following your logic would suggest that the whole population of Soviet Poland spent most of their time in bed. It is the fallacy at the heart of your thesis. By your definition 98% of the world population is socialist.

Where one stands politically depends primarily upon how one views human nature. Socialists see human beings as essentially selfish, that's why they seek to regulate their behaviour. Capitalists (and conservatives), also see human beings as selfish and use that fact to exploit them. Liberals see human beings as unselfish, therefore they seek minimum regulation of behaviour based on the notion of 'do no harm'. They are opposed to both socialism and capitalism.
