Most farmers spend a lot of time with their animals- perhaps I should qualify that by excluding industrial farmers. They look after them lovingly, even give them names, but they never lose sight of the end game: like every living creature, animal and vegetable and including oourselves, they exist for no other purpose than to be food for some other creature.
