Is This the Perfect Retirement Hobby?
Discovering great (and not so great) writing via #RBRT
I’ve recently been looking back at the books I’ve reviewed as a member of Rosie’s Book Review Team (#RBRT) in 2024. I also took a quick peep into the past and discovered that I’ve been doing it for almost five years.
This year I’ve received and reviewed eleven books via Rosie Amber’s UK based book review website. It’s a great way of getting to read a variety of books free of charge in return for an honest review. Many are from debut authors, others by authors so satisfied with the service they receive from the team that they come back each time they publish.
Most of my reviews for #RBRT are also posted to Goodreads. Amazon will not permit me to post reviews on their site because I do not spend enough there. I guess that’s one of the disadvantages of getting your books free, whether from the author or from my local library.
Of the books obtained via Rosie’s service in 2024 there are several that stand out. The Architect of Grayland is the best of these, closely followed by Pilgrims and The Means of Keeping. I’ve posted my reviews of each of these here on Medium. Each is a look at possible futures, a genre I have not chosen to read since my youth.
