Dear Donald,

I hear you think Europe is destroying it’s beautiful mountains and valleys with windmills. And that “Immigration is killing Europe.” (Source) (and most other MSMs)

I guess you are really proud of the way your country covers so much of its own landscape with scenes like the one above. And I know you aim to extend such scenes into hitherto unspoiled parts of the USA with fracking and pipelines. Obviously, now that Europe has its windmills and solar farms it has denied itself the pleasure of such beautiful vistas.

You have a plethora of advisors. I am sure some of them have told you that Europe now regularly produces almost half of its energy requirements from those windmills and other renewable sources, thereby depriving your friends in the fossil fuel industry of profits with which to create more landscapes like the one above. I guess that’s why you want Europe to get rid of them.

And then there’s your warning about immigrants. As a citizen of the USA you will be well versed in that problem. After all, there are hardly any indigenous Americans left there now. They have been replaced with people of Asian and African origin as well as millions of Europeans. I quite understand how you might wish this hadn’t happened.

I am sure you will understands how I, someone older than you who was born, educated and worked for almost a half century in Europe, do not share your view of the world. I am proud of what my fellow citizens have achieved since the war that your country helped end 80 years ago this summer.

My concerns is that some of those achievements are being undermined by politicians mesmerized by your vision. A vision which to me seems more akin to the years preceding that war than to a future in which Europeans, Africans, Asians and Americans are able to live together in peace and prosperity.

I can easily imagine your dismissal of my opinion. As you enjoy your weekend of golf in the parts of Europe in which you have established successful businesses you will wish to relax and forget for a few pleasant hours the responsibility for the future of humanity that you have been so eager to embrace for over a decade now. I know it is an awesome task that you have taken on and I wish you well for the next three and a half years.
