Are you saying those weren’t catastrophes? If the people alive then had the knowledge to avert those events do you think they wouldn’t have tried to do so? We are in the fortunate position that scientists can explain the current change and foresee the potentially catastrophic nature of it. They also can show us ways of averting the catastrophe. We ignore them at our peril.
