And the engineers who create artificial limbs, heart valve replacements, pacemakers, medical instruments and devices that aid surgeons? The engineers who design wind turbines and solar panels?

I agree that the world might be a better place if there was less emphasis on military machinery but it’s a long way from that to blaming engineers for becoming slaves to capitalism.

I am a retired engineer. In my time I have worked in capital intensive industries and for defence oriented companies. I regret some of that but, like another commenter, I had to feed my family. My grand daughter is studying bio-medical engineering. She is diabetic and relies on an insulin pump — designed by engineers, of course.
