Allow me to provide some context for this. Firstly the Labour Party had to adopt I much less left wing agenda in order to achieve any progress. Secondly the result, in terms of seat gains, masks a very small increase in actual vote share. On top of that, the Tory's demise was helped by the relatively strong level of support evinced by the extreme right Reform party. They may not have won many seats but they had the same vote share as the centre-left Liberal Democrats, taking their support from former Conservative voters.
