A wonderful pipe dream. Unfortunately it's been tried before. I was active in the political centre (Lib/SDP Alliance) in the 1980s. It got us nowhere - except keeping Margaret Thatcher and the Tories in power for longer. Unless and until Labour embrace PR, the UK is doomed t repesat the established pattern of long periods of Tory cuts followed by brief periods of correction under Labour.
